We are Youth Congress for Development and Social economic Progress (YOCODESOP) that has been created on 16 February 2017 in Malawi, Central Region, Dowa district, Dzaleka Refugee Camp. Dzaleka Refugee Camp started in 1993 with the coming of different people from different countries who left their residence for various reasons such as: being raped, killed by rebels and others were dispersed from their families as a result lot of refugees came in Dzaleka refugee camp hopeless and traumatized.

Promote actions particularly in the Dzaleka Camp and its surroundings in Malawi and in general such as local and sustainable development, education, social and professional integration of disadvantaged young people based on culture, sport, agriculture, access to drinking water, and health..

History
Established on February 16, 2017, in the heart of Malawi's Central Region, specifically in Dowa district within the Dzaleka Refugee Camp, the Youth Congress for Development and Social Progress (YOCODESOP) is a beacon of hope for the diverse communities residing within the camp. Originally founded in response to the influx of individuals from various countries who sought refuge due to harrowing circumstances such as violence, persecution, and displacement, YOCODESOP emerged as a vital lifeline for those who arrived in Dzaleka feeling hopeless and traumatized.

Our Organization Promote actions particularly in the Dzaleka Camp and its surroundings in Malawi and in general such as local and sustainable development, education, social and professional integration of disadvantaged young people based on culture, sport, agriculture, access to drinking water, and health.

Our Work

Our work YOCODESOP, or the Youth Community Development and Social Promotion, is a non-profit organization based in Malawi with a noble objective - to make a positive impact in the lives of disadvantaged youth in the country. Through our various initiatives, we strive to promote local and sustainable development, education, and social and professional integration of young people. One of our key focus areas is agriculture.
1. Sustainable Agriculture Training: YOCODESOP offers training programs to educate disadvantaged youth on sustainable farming techniques, promoting food security and economic self-sufficiency.
2. Wash and Sanitation Initiatives: The organization works to improve access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities in the camp, promoting better hygiene practices and reducing the spread of diseases.
3. Cultural Enrichment Programs: YOCODESOP organizes events and activities to celebrate and preserve the cultural heritage of the camp,

Our Origins and Mission
Dzaleka Refugee Camp, established in 1993, became home to a mosaic of cultures, including Burundian, Rwandese, Congolese, Ethiopian, Somali, Sudanese, and others. In this melting pot of humanity, YOCODESOP was born, driven by a fervent desire to catalyze positive change and foster sustainable development within the community.

Our Objectives

Empowerment Through Education: YOCODESOP is dedicated to providing educational opportunities and resources to disadvantaged youth within the camp, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to society.
Promoting Sustainable Development: Through initiatives focused on agriculture, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), we endeavor to foster local and sustainable development practices that improve living conditions and enhance community resilience.
Social and Professional Integration: YOCODESOP works tirelessly to facilitate the social and professional integration of youth, ensuring they have access to support networks, mentorship, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Cultural Enrichment and Exchange: Recognizing the richness of diversity within the camp, we celebrate and promote cultural activities and exchanges, fostering understanding, tolerance, and unity among different ethnic groups
